Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask about JD Lens before they paste their first job description.

Is JD Lens really free?+

Yes. You get 3 analyses without signing in, and unlimited analyses after a free Google sign-in. We may add premium features (PDF export, saved workspaces, team collaboration) later, but the core JD analysis will always have a generous free tier.

What kind of job descriptions work best?+

Any role from any industry. JD Lens performs especially well on engineering, product, design, data, marketing, sales, and operations roles. For best results, paste the entire JD including responsibilities, requirements, and benefits — not just the title.

How accurate is the salary range?+

The salary number is an inferred market signal, not a guarantee. We combine the role title, seniority, required skills, and any compensation hints in the JD itself. Always cross-check with sources like Levels.fyi, Glassdoor, or AmbitionBox before negotiating.

What does a 'red flag' actually mean?+

Red flags highlight wording patterns that historically correlate with poor candidate experience: unrealistic experience requirements (e.g. '10 years of React'), unpaid trial work, vague compensation, excessive scope, or culture-fit language that signals long hours.

Do you store the job descriptions I paste?+

No. JDs are sent to our analysis API, processed in memory, and discarded. The result and a 100-character snippet are saved only in your browser's localStorage so you can see your history. Clearing your browser data clears your history.

Does it work for non-English job descriptions?+

Partially. The model understands many languages, but skill extraction and salary inference are most reliable in English. For non-English JDs, results will still appear but may be less granular.

Why do I see 'No results returned'?+

The JD was probably too short or contained mostly company boilerplate without role specifics. Try pasting a longer JD that includes the actual responsibilities and requirements.

Can I use JD Lens for my recruitment agency?+

Absolutely. Switch the toggle to 'I'm a Recruiter' and you'll get rewrite suggestions, clarity issues, and tips to attract better candidates instead of candidate-side advice.

Will you add interview answer coaching?+

It's on the roadmap. Today JD Lens generates the questions you're most likely to face; soon you'll be able to draft answers and get feedback inside the same flow.
